Different things this week

I know I have bragged about my view outside of my office before.  The waterfront, Tall Ships, the Queen of Denmark's royal yacht.  All of which I have seen just looking out of my window.

Well, this week was no exception.  I happened to look outside and this is what I saw.

A model on a fashion shoot!

I was wondering what was going on.  My good friend Ann Høck (in the green sweater) knew the crew and brought me out to meet them. It was a catalog shoot for a local company.

The things I see looking out my window!

When I got home that evening, I locked my bicycle in the rack and walked past the statue of the "Steadfast Tin Soldier" just outside of the apartment as I always do.  And this is what I saw.

A group of women had knitted an "outfit" for the soldier!  I'm not sure what the reason was, but there were many photos taken of the statue this week!

And finally, there was a Film Festival this week in Odense.  There were many short films shown in venues all over the city.  I attended one outside.  A big band played while short film clips were shown on a screen behind the band.

And of course they served beer!

There were GIANT beach chairs to sit in and watch the movie.

It looked like EVERYONE in Odense rode their bicycle to the event

Including me

Never a dull moment in Odense.

Light Show

This week the city of Odense hosted a festival honoring Hans Christian Anderson.  There have been plays, street performers, concerts and one of the most spectacular light shows I have every seen.

There were several venues built just for this week long event.  One was in the square where the farmer's market is held each week.

There was another built beside St. Kund's church for Concerts.

There were street performers

And 3D sidewalk art (in this case, ROAD art)

In the city square there were performances

And a GIANT marionette

But the best was the light show.  From the rooftop of the bank, a 3D light show was projected onto the City Hall building.

This is the building in the daylight

It started off slowly, just lights on the building moving in time to the music playing

And then the building started to transform into other shapes and buildings

Then a building in the winter, covered in snow

Then it was on fire

And then library shelves, filled with books

Hans Christian Anderson even made an appearance

At the end, a trumpet player on the rooftop (in the spotlight on the right) played "In Denmark I was Born", and the words to the song were projected on the building.  Thousands of people in the crowd sang.  The entire show was spectacular!

Blomsterfestival

The city of Odense hosts many activities during the summer months.  Film festivals (next week!!), open air concerts, plays, and symphony orchestra concerts, just to name a few.

This weekend, it was the “Blomsterfestival”.  An enormous flower show.

The city transformed the center square onto a sea of flowers.  It was truly amazing.

Thousands of people and more flowers than I could count!

Besides looking, you could also buy flowers.  I love orchids, so........

I just hope I don't kill them!!

I have always been a fan of black and white photography.  I thought I would try one B&W photo, with a twist.

But really, for this day, I needed color.  I think I will just let the flowers do "the talking for themselves".

It was a BEAUTIFUL day in Odense.
